In my second year of modelmaking I want to expand my horizons and push myself outside of my comfort zone. The two artists I have chosen as inspiration are quite different; from each other and from my usual art and modelmaking style. The first piece I am looking at is by Ben Taggart, a freelance architectural modelmaker. This is an example of a beautiful book shop front, a model designed to fit within a frame for wall mounting. Taggarts models are neatly and perfectly scaled and all with exquisite detail, I chose this image as the detail in the window is a great example. Last year the modelmaking project was a challenge, very different to anything I have done before as modelmaking is generally new to me prior to this course. I would love to be able to produce an architectural model with a beautiful, elegant finish like Taggart’s.
